My name is Elva Kreko. I was born on 27
july 92 in Durazzo (Albania); I'm studing linguistic
and cultural communication at Univesity in Milan. In 2003 I reached
my father in Italy with the rest of my family, moving here
definitively. I'm interested in art since I was a child and growing
up this interest has became love. I also love painting and fashion,
my dream is to turn this passion in my job!

Elva Kreko. Sono nata il 27 Luglio ‘92 a Durazzo, in Albania;
attualmente studio mediazione linguistica e culturale all'Università
degli Studi di Milano. Nel 2003 ho raggiunto mio padre in Italia con
il resto della mia famiglia, trasferendomi definitivamente in Italia.
Sin da piccola nutro un grande interesse per l'arte e crescendo, questo interesse si trasforma in amore. Amo la pittura e la moda, e sogno di trasformare questa passione nel mio lavoro.

How did you come into contact with
the vintage style?
My inspiration
was Dita Von Teese: when I was a child and even if I didn't know very
well vintage this woman fascinated me.
Who are your style icons (both from the past and of the present) and how you get inspiration for your outfits?
Dita von teese
at first, she was a real obsession to me. Now, as time goes on and
with the study of vintage, I have not a singular idol anymore. I take
inpiration from people of the past and talented girl known on
instagram, from which I learned a lot!

venuta in contatto con lo stile vintage?
Ad ispirarmi
fu Dita Von Teese: mi ha sempre incuriosito quella donna sin da
quando ero piccola e non conoscevo molto il vintage.
Quando hai
deciso di adottare questo stile? C'è stato un episodio in
particolare o è stato un processo graduale?
È stato un
processo graduale iniziato circa 4 anni fa. Ho cominciato ad
avvicinarmi allo stile degli anni 50 e man mano sono arrivata ad
amare molto di più lo stile anni 20 e 30.
Chi sono le
tue icone di stile (sia del passato sia attuali) e come prendi
ispirazione per i tuoi outfit?
Inizialmente,
Dita Von Teese, che era diventata una ossessione per me. Poi con il
passare del tempo e con lo studio del vintage non ho più avuto un
idolo preciso. Mi sono ispirata a personalità del passato e alle
talentuose ragazze conosciute su Instagram, da cui ho imparato molto.
Now your style...
Which are
your must have pieces?
I do not have a
huge collection of dresses and accessories, even if I would like to
have much more. I try to achieve good results with the things I have,
even because vintage clothes are not
cheap at all. I
have 2 dresses I adore, one is 1938 and the other is early 40's.
I have a hat that I can turn both in a 40s or 30s style at my leasure
and a pair of 1940's vintage shoes.
Do you ever wear modern clothes?
Very often,
especially when I'm in a bad mood, when what I have don't satisfies
me anymore or when it's cold and I don't want to dress retro.

Do you wear also repros? Have you ever made by yourself your accesories and clothes?
Yes,
I do wear reproduction as well as clothes from 70s and 80s that do
30s and 40s. Recently I
have started making new clothes altering old ones.
The 1938 evening dress. It' a real treasure for me because I like
the shape and how fits me: it makes me feel original!
Usually about 2 hours. I don't like being in a hurry so, if I can,
I give myself all the time I need.
I love finger waves and 30's hairstyles . In particular, I
absolutely want to try hair perm to make this haistyle more simple.
I'm good at creating them, I think, but I try to improve learning new
techniques constantly.
Yes, I have a pair of 50s rockabilly dresses and a coat I want to
sell 'cause I don't wear them anymore.

Quali sono i tuoi pezzi must have?
Non ho una
grandissima collezione di abiti e accessori, anche se mi piacerebbe
averne molti. Cerco di fare quel che posso con ciò che ho, anche
perché gli abiti vintage non sono certo economici.
Ho due abiti
che adoro, uno è del ‘38 e l'altro di inizio anni ‘40. Ho un
cappellino che posso trasformare a mio piacimento in stile anni ‘40
oppure ‘30 e un paio di scarpe vintage degli anni ‘40.
Ti capita mai di indossare abiti in stile contemporaneo?
Molto spesso, soprattutto
quando sono di cattivo umore, quando quello che ho non mi soddisfa
più oppure quando ho freddo e non ho voglia di vestirmi vintage.
Dove acquisti o prendi i tuoi abiti e accessori?
Principalmente Etsy e Ebay
Indossi anche riproduzioni di vestiti vintage o hai mai creato tu i tuoi abiti/accessori?
Sì, ho
indossato riproduzioni ma anche abiti anni ’70 e ‘80 con uno
stile ’30 e ‘40. Ultimamente ho cominciato a creare nuovi abiti
modificandone di vecchi.
Qual è il pezzo del tuo armadio che più ti piace e perché?
L'abito da
sera del '38. È un vero gioiello per me perché mi piace la forma e
come sta su di me: mi fa sentire originale.
Quanto ci metti a prepararti?
Solitamente
2 ore circa. Non mi piace fare tutto di fretta quindi, se posso, mi
concedo tutto il tempo che mi occorre.
Parliamo di capelli...quali acconciature o pieghe ti affascinano maggiormente? Riesci ad ottenerle?
Adoro la
capigliatura finger waves e la piega degli anni ‘30. In
particolare, vorrei assolutamente provare la permanente per
semplificare quest’ultima acconciatura. Direi che mi riescono bene
ma cerco sempre di migliorarmi imparando nuove tecniche.
C'è qualche pezzo del tuo stile vintage che non ti piace e non indosseresti mai?
Sì, ho un
paio di abiti ‘50 in stile rockabilly e un cappotto che vorrei
vendere perchè non indosso più.

Have
you ever been noticed because of your style (positively
or negatively)?
Very often, both positively and negatively, but fortunately I
received more compliments than disapprovals, and this is one of the
reason why I'm going on, doing what I love.
How does
your ambience approach your style? In family or in your circle of
friends is there someone who wear a retro style?
People I love are accustomed to my style and they have learned to
appreciate me because of the passion I put every day on my style.
Inside my crew I'm the only person with a vintage style.
Do
you consider yourself as a “vintage” person? Wearing this style
changed you someway?
I like vintage fashion but I'm not sure I'm completely vintage. I
dress as 20's 30's and 40s women did but I don't act like them,
adopting the same ideals. From the modern society I approve usages,
from the past societies I appreciate costumes.
What
do you like of the past and would you take in today's society? What
do you prefer of the present instead?
I like good manners and fashion. In my opinion the modern society
lacks kindness, men's gallantry and romanticism. About
Today's
society I
appreciate women emancipation and rights that has been finally
obtained for men, women, children and animals.

In ultimo, parliamo un po' di te
E' mai successo che qualcuno ti
notasse (positivamente o negativamente) per il tuo stile?
Sì, molto
spesso, sia positivamente che negativamente, anche se per fortuna ho
ricevuto più complimenti che critiche, e questo è uno dei motivi
per cui continuo a fare quello che faccio e che amo.
Come si pone l'ambiente con cui
sei a contatto rispetto al tuo stile? In famiglia o nella tua cerchia
di amici c'è qualcun'altro che segue uno stile retrò?
Le persone
che amo si sono abituate al mio stile ed hanno imparato ad
apprezzarmi per la passione che cerco di mettere quotidianamente al
mio stile. All’interno della cerchia di amici sono comunque
l'unica persona con uno stile vintage
Ti consideri una persona
“vintage”? Vestirti così ti ha cambiata dentro in qualche modo?
Il vintage
mi piace ma non direi di essere completamente vintage. Mi vesto
secondo i canoni degli anni ‘20, ‘30 e ‘40 ma non per forza mi
comporto come una donna dell'epoca, condividendone gli stessi ideali.
Della società moderna condivido gli usi, mentre delle società
passate condivido i costumi.
Cosa ti piace del passato e porteresti nella società odierna? Cosa invece apprezzi del presente rispetto al passato?
Mi piacciono
le buone maniere e la moda. Alla società odierna manca secondo me la
gentilezza, la cavalleria degli uomini e il romanticismo. Della
società moderna apprezzo l'emancipazione della donna e i diritti che
finalmente uomini, donne, bambini e animali hanno ottenuto con il
tempo.
