Ahoy! - Another day, another contest

Today I'm going to write again about a pin up/vintage theme contest, the “Miss Motorcity 2016” I recently joined. Told you I would get into this kind of competition! Furthermore, even this time I met delightful girls and had a good time with them.
For that day I chose a 1940s outfit (no pettycoat for me!), as a matter of fact, and I've alredy written in a previous post, I like the 1950s but I totally adore the 1940s: I simply feel the 40s more near to my personality as the style of this decade suits my taste.

I had all along the idea of wearing a sailor outfit, very popular during those years. Searching on the web I found some pics of that time depicting gorgeous gals with this style that insipired me so much.

Speaking of my outfit I wore this vintage navy dress: it's a sartorial dress so it has no label and I can't date it with sureness, but it has the same design of 1940s day dresses (not circle skirt with knee lenght, v-neck, the particular cut under the chest); to better outline my waist I add a belt from one of my repro skirts and a trench (modern) to protect me from the morning breeze.

All the three accessories are original vintage pieces: in particular I chose this brooch because it remind me a boating knot, is the late 1930s one I bought during my vacation in Prague; whereas the alligator print handbag , the crochet gloves and the dress come from Humana Vintage.

Lastly, as little additional touches for the show I wore sailor hat and scarf.

And now The question you may want to ask...Did I win? Nope, this time I didn't, but It's not the winning that counts but how you played the game, right? ;)

Me, the winner and my friend Vanessa

All the pin up on the stage!
