Last days in Prague and...wedding day!

The last two days we took it easy moving around the city and better enjoying the atmosphere. I chose to wear the stunning Susan Dress by Aida Zak, bought some time ago on the eshop of
Collectif clothing. It's a yellow cotton pencil dress with sweatheart neckline and white hems liket he buttons.

Gli ultimi due giorni ce la siamo presi un po' più comoda, abbiamo girato la città godendoci al meglio la sua atmosfera. Ho scelto di indossare questo bellissimo “Susan Dress” di Aida Zak , comprato qualche tempo prima di partire sull'eshop del marchio Collectif.   E' un vestito a matita in cotone giallo con scollo a cuore e rifiniture bianche richiamate dai bottoni.


 
 I especially love the matching belt in this dress, made by the same materials and colors. Nowadays is not easy to find it on modern clothes and belts of vintage ones has been often lost over the years, so the fact of having a matching belt is a certain added value to me because very often in the past dress and skirts had their matching belts made from the same fabric.
The carefulness in manufacturing clothes in these past eras is unfortunately so hard to find in modern ones, even when clothes were made at home sartorially  they  always had that "something" special that fascinates me.

Uno degli aspetti che più mi piace è la cintura coordinata, fatta con i medesimi materiali e colori. Oggigiorno non è una caratteristica facilmente rintracciabile negli abiti moderni e in quelli vintage ahimè spesso le cinture si sono perse negli anni, quindi il fatto di avere una cintura coordinata per me è assolutamente un valore aggiunto in quanto molto spesso in passato i vestiti e le gonne avevano la propria cintura coordinata, creata a partire dalla medesima stoffa.
La cura che veniva messa nei vestiti allora purtroppo non si trova facilmente in capi moderni, anche quando i vestiti venivano fatti sartorialmente in casa trovo che riuscissero ad avere sempre quel “qualcosa” in più che mi affascina moltissimo.

1940s dresses

A must­-see in my opinion is the Alfons Mucha museum , I love art nouveau! In addition to his works that I had the opportunity to admire at an exhibition in Milan, here I could admire the
authentic pics of his models which dazzled me. It ' a museum which I highly recommend to visit if you are in Prague.

Una tappa irrinunciabile per me era il museo di Alfons Mucha, adoro l'art nouveau! Oltre alle sue opere che avevo già avuto modo di ammirare ad una mostra a Milano mi hanno colpito molto le foto autentiche alle sue modelle. E' un museo che consiglio vivamente di visitare se si è a Praga.

Sometimes moving around the city  let you discover places maybe less "famous" but very interesting, such as the St. James Church, a splendid Baroque church with a macabre surprise: for
400 years a mummified forearm  is hanging from a wall, the legend says it belongs to a thief who tried to steal the jewels of Virgin Mary's statue.
Obviously we didn't only walk around the squares and admire monuments and churches, but we used these last days for shopping! Fortunately for me but unfortunately for my wallet in the same street of our hotel there was a cute vintage jewelry (Panská 22/8 Prague 1), one of those hidden shop where vintage enthusiast like me can find wonderful unique pieces: there were many beautiful brooches to choose from, a paradise for me! It was not easy , but in the end I bought "only" two . One is a late 30s art deco style brooch and the other is a modern repro that I couldn't resist to buy for a simple reason: it rappresent a balck and white cat, just like my furbaby Ofelia!

A volte girando per le città si scoprono dei luoghi magari meno “famosi” ma molto interessanti, come ad esempio la chiesa di san Giacomo, una splendida chiesa barocca che ospita una macabra
sorpresa: da 400 anni si trova appeso ad una parete un avambraccio mummificato, la leggenda dice che appartenga ad un ladro che tentò di rubare i gioielli posti sulla statua della Madonna.
Ovviamente non ci siamo limitati a girare per le piazze e ammirarne monumenti e chiese, ma abbiamo approfittato di questi ultimi giorni anche per fare un po' di shopping!
Fortunatamente per me ma sfortunatamente per il mio portafoglio avevamo nella stessa via in cui era situato il nostro hotel una gioielleria vintage (Panská 22/8 Praga 1), un negozio veramente delizioso, uno di quelli un po' nascosti in cui gli appassionati di vintage come me possono trovare magnifici pezzi unici: c'erano molte bellissime spille tra cui scegliere, un vero paradiso per me!
Non è stato per nulla facile, ma alla fine ne ho prese “solo” due. Una è vintage di fine anni 30 in perfetto stile art deco e una è una riproduzione moderna a cui non ho potuto resistere per un semplice motivo: è a forma di gatto bianco e nero, proprio come la mia gatta Ofelia!

Lastly, I want to show you how I rewore this dress for my cousin's wedding day, accessorized with a “special” pair of decolletè: the shoes worn by mum at her 80s wedding!
It was a beautiful day, set in a poetic location surrounded by nature, a riding school, and accompanied by lots of smiles and good company. Thanks Alex and Beatrice and... long live the
newlyweds!

Infine, ci tenevo inoltre a mostrarvi come ho riutilizzato questo vestito al matrimonio di mio cugino, accessoriandolo con delle decolletè “speciali”: quelle che mia mamma ha indossato per il
suo matrimonio, negli anni 80!
E' stata una bellissima giornata, ambientata in una poetica cornice immersa nel verde, un maneggio, e accompagnata da tanti sorrisi e buona compagnia. Grazie Alex e Beatrice e...viva gli sposi!
